Supported Charities

Cherrytown Kids supports local charities benefitting children by donating, at your request, usable clothing, toys and gear that we are unable to sell in our store. We donate to two organizations:

Building Futures for Women and Children, providing comprehensive services for battered women and their children in San Leandro and Alameda.

Alameda County Social Services, providing assistance to families in need and children entering the foster care system.

Connecting Parents

One of our goals for Cherrytown Kids is to create a space where families can connect and share resources. One of the ways we've been doing that is by referring families to the San Leandro Parents Network, a grass roots, community-based, online community. The SLPN has no formal membership or meetings. Rather, it is a tool that parents use to connect for casual play groups, family excursions and Moms & Dads nights out. Last month's Valentine's Potluck at Zocalo was a great time. We judge success not by the number of people who turn out (though there were a ton!) but by the number of people meeting each other for the first time. By all accounts, the potluck was a huge success.

We want to encourage you to check out the San Leandro Parents Network website and register for the online forums. There may be information you have that others would benefit from and vice versa. If you sign up for the "updates" topic, you will receive a weekly email outlining upcoming events. You can also find upcoming events listed on the calendar and if you have ideas for events, you can schedule one yourself!
